First Impressions

Today was my first day of school. Orientation day. And I thought it might be a good idea to make a first impressions entry. To see how my perspectives change by the end of the year. Or even the semester.

First of all, the transit system. I learned today how to put a bike on the front rack of the bus. I figured out that there are two different signs at the college. An inbound and an outbound sign. So that one time when I took the inbound bus instead of the outbound, it's because I was standing at the wrong sign. And I have to admit.. it wasn't even me who noticed the signs. Someone had to point them out to me today...

Biking. Well, I wiped out today. And possibly dented my front tire rim. So for the time being, I'm bussing it. Which I'm kind of relieved by, but I like biking. It was good exercise. Walking just takes so much longer to get anywhere.

My neighbourhood. Is kinda a big circle, with a single road leading in and out. Kinda neat, really. A bike trail that leads both East and West (I think), which is close to either bus stations, plus close to the mall, shopping places... But who wants to walk or bike in the winter, right?

The people. The ones that I've met so far are all very nice. My one neighbour, Dallas, is this little old lady who's not the cute kind. Quite negative, but nice enough. Lady on the other side, Erma, or Elma, something like that, is super nice. Goes to the same church my landlady goes to, and is just a very nice woman.

My landlady's church: Crossroads. Fricken huge. They have a gym and a slide leading from the second floor down to the main entrance. Crazy. They also have a cafe to buy all sorts of drinks from... Have a round reception desk in the entryway. Huge... what's it called... with all the chairs and the stage where the pastor talks. Also, huge fricken stage. And an actual rock band. It was crazy. Great sound, incredible talent with the instruments and voice. And again. Huge ass stage. Beautiful. I think it would take me a long time to get comfortable there.

My new classmates: This is a good one, cuz I only met all of them today. Actually, I'm not sure I met all of them. It was only orientation today: the real classes start tomorrow. That's when I know if there are any cute boys in my class. There were a couple boys there today, but only one was kinda cute. Kinda. But... I know, it doesn't really matter about the boys. I'm here to focus on my art and my schooling and career and stuff. But... boys! I actually did meet a very cute one today, but he's not in my class. And I think he's the kind of guy who goes for the skinny blonde 'packies'. And yes, I am judging everyone today, but that's what first impressions are all about! So far, there's no one in my class who's like my friends from Rosebud... Sarcastic, hilarious, and partiers, but again- first day. We'll give it time.
