I think this is the first year that I went through Halloween, feeling like it was just another day. I didn't get that feeling of excitement and anticipation bubbling up in my tummy, and I didn't even dress up, even though I had a costume. It made me pretty sad and nostalgic, so I decided to start the project I've been wanting to do for a LONG time, and that is scanning photos from when I was a child into the computer. It brought back so many memories, some of which are even Halloween or dress up memories! Behold...
Oh the days when we were little and everything was a bajillion times more fun.
My Halloween celebration on Sunday went pretty good though. Aside from the times when I had to eat sweet potato and turkey falvoured baby food and had to run all the way across town (I walked mostly), it was good. I carved a pumpkin and got all dressed up in my Armour of God costume, only to realize there weren't any prizes :( Last year I won both the costume and the pumpkin prizes (there was first, second, and third place for the pumpkins), but this year they didn't do that because they said that people were upset last year that they didn't win. I would understand that, if any of them actually put more than 20 minutes of time into their costumes. They didn't, so of course they didn't win. So I was disappointed with that. But I guess I need to get over the fact that not everything is a competition. Sadly. Oh well.
There's the helmet of salvation--- "...put on salvation as your helmet... pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit..."
And the shoes of peace--- "...for shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared..."
The sword of the Spirit--- "...take the sword of the spirit which is the word of God..."
The belt of truth--- "...stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth..."
And lastly, the breastplate of righteousness--- "...put on the body armour of God's righteousness..."
