The Hair Chronicles

Alright! So here we are. I am officially moved into my new place, and I have been residing here happily and comfortably for the past two weeks. And in that time I have successfully gone through all of my pictures, organized all of them, and now I can share them with you!

First order of business: I want to put together a cycle of my hairs! I have dyed it and changed it a lot since I started at school last year, and so I'm going to embrace vanity and... do it! So bear with me :)
Starting in grade 10, I got a perm. My hair had been growing for years and it was long and super straight; I wanted a change. So I permed it. Just over a year later the perm grew/flattened out, so I got straight across bangs for the first time since I was about nine, and I also got low lights put in, which actually made most of my hair much darker than it's natural colour. And I loved it! Thus began my intrigue in hair changing. A while after that, I'm not entirely sure of the time frame, but it was over a year later, I cut my hair short! I was thinking about getting dreads, but at the last minute I changed my mind, and instead cut it like this. Inspired by Joan Jett, who I am quite enthralled with, so I poured over magazines and ended up putting together this hairstyle. I wanted it more blended between the short and the long, but I was pleased with this nonetheless.
The top part I dyed a reddish purple, and it blended into a black purple near the bottom. It looked freakin awesome. I was quite pleased. I cut it myself for a while after that, and I'm pretty sure I dyed it at least twice, all different kinds of shades of a reddish purple.
Then started my a-symmetry phase. I went over to Zoe's house and she cut my hair- cutting off the long bits and leaving one side a bit longer than the other. This was around October, 2012. Between then and Summer 2013, I coloured it probably about four times.

Then the summer came around and I did the one thing I have thought about my entire life but never had the guts to do. But this summer I felt comfortable enough with my environment and my experience in doing my hair, so I went blonde!

It was fantastic. I kept it longer on the one side, even though it doesn't look like it with these two pictures. And the side just kept getting longer, and I kept the one side buzzed. Around this time I also discovered something called Manic Panic; a hair dye that has a swack of crazy colours that are semi-permanent. So I bought a purple and a pink one and went to town. And it was very cool because when it faded, it turned a pastelly colour, which was quite wonderful.

One day, I decided to do another thing that I had been thinking about for forever but never could. I gave myself a mohawk! It was actually quite difficult. I had two mirrors set up, two different light sources, and one buzzer. And somehow, by some miracle, I actually got it straight. And it was beautiful. But as it got longer, it was discovered that I have this funny little "random stupid piece of hair" (as my roommate describes it) that just sticks up in the middle of my head. Soooo the mohawk had to go away :(
So as of yesterday, my new roommate Tessa took my cutting shears and hair scissors and blended the mohawk in with the right side of my head; the longer side. My left side is still buzzed quite short. But now it's all lovely and back to how it was before the mohawk. All smooth and awesome. AND THEN.

I decided to dye my hair again. Shocker. But it was an interesting process to come to this decision. I had been told that I look more intimidating while being blonde, which I actually agree with and don't necessarily want. Also my roots have grown in past about an inch, and the rest of my head had been shaved so my natural hair colour was showing, so the blonde looked especially out of place. I also have been blonde for about five months. Four or five months. So I wanted another change. And I went out with my friend Alexis to Shoppers, and found a colour. A purpley red, called something something burgandy. So she dyed my hair that night.

The pictures don't capture the colour super well, but it looks almost black in some light, red in others, but when it's under direct light, it's a bright purpley pink. It's fantastic! Much darker than I thought it would be, but I like it, and I'm back to my original Joan Jett creation. And who knows what happens next!
