Art Time: Dream Painting

I am very excited to be posting about this picture. I have neglected to do it because it was a Christmas present for my mom. But since I have given it to her, I can now share it with the rest of the world!
But first, a story. So the idea of this painting was to create something that was either a dream you had had, whether it was good or bad, or something dream-like or fantastical. It was very open, and initially I had thought about doing a painting about this dream I remember having a s a kid about ghosts. It wasn't a bad dream, it was just something I had remembered all these years. Then as I got closer to actually starting the painting, I decided to do a different one. This was less of a dream and more of a daydream. One night when I was very little I remember having a god awful nightmare. So I ran upstairs to my mom and crawled into bed with her, and she told me to think of a farm. I was living on a farm. It was in the middle of summer and the farm was full of all sorts of animals. And the hills were green and the trees were green, ,and that I was sitting underneath this great big apple tree. This image has stuck with me ever since, and I therefore have a happy place that I can go to whenever I have evil nightmarish dreams. Those dreams haven't come to me in a number of years, but this image is still ingrained in my head. So that's what I decided to paint.

It took me I think about eight hours to complete. I made the canvas board and stretched the canvas on myself. Painted with acrylics and using all sorts of mediums for different thicknesses. Merry Christmas mom :)
